Bordeaux unveils modernisation drive
Bordeaux is reinventing itself to appeal to modern wine drinkers. The French region has spent the past five years expanding its wine styles, from lighter fruit-forward clarets to dry whites in Médoc (reviving an 18th-century tradition) and reds in Entre-deux-Mers. The real growth story is Crémant de Bordeaux, which has seen production quadruple over the past decade, with 2025 exports hitting 7.5 million bottles. The UK is proving a particularly strong market for the sparkling wine, with a 29% increase in value and now accounting for 14% of total Crémant exports.
