The finest rosé wines money can buy
Fine rosé wines are having a moment, and they're commanding serious prices. Patrick Schmitt MW has identified the cream of the crop from this year's Global Rosé Masters competition, with bottles ranging from £60 to nearly £200. The trend started in 2006 when Château d'Esclans proved rosé could be aged in oak like fine white wine, challenging the old assumption that pink wine should be fresh and light. Today, producers across southern France, including specialist Gérard Bertrand, are creating premium barrel-aged rosés that develop complexity in the bottle, cementing rosé's place in the luxury wine market.
