Champagne to limit production to 250m bottles for 2026

Champagne has set its tightest production cap in modern history for the 2026 harvest, limiting output to 8,800kg per hectare, equivalent to around 250 million bottles. This represents the lowest yield since 2020 and continues a downward trend from 12,000kg/ha in 2022, as the region works to rebalance oversupply. The decision was made collectively by grape growers and winemakers to match production with actual demand, which is currently showing modest growth of 1.2% in the first half of 2026.
